As soon as I get to London I will look carefully at amazing astronomical clock in Hampton Court Palace. It’s a bit younger than my previous choices – it’s only 475 years old! It belonged to King Henry VIII – that’s something!
In the original the clock has 4.6 meters in diameter. Its three separate dials work with different speed and show different information. In addition to the time, clock takes into account also phases of the moon, month, quarter of the year, date and – tidbit! – the level of water in the Thames at London Bridge! That miracle is working till today.
In terms of size – I maintain the principle of 1:10. With a heavy heart I skipped dials spinning in all directions. Painting itself was a real pleasure! Putting million small lines to make the form more delicate put me in a real meditative state 🙂
